In Kindergarten, we strive to integrate social, emotional, physical, and cultural learning to set students up for lifelong success. In this critical first year, students engage in hands-on learning to master letters, beginning reading and math skills, and explore new concepts through play.

ENROLLMENT POLICY

Rise Academy is a public charter school open to any student in the state of Minnesota.  All students have a right to a fair and appropriate education. A student application can be found on the school website (www.riseacademymn.org) or when parents do an on-site visit.  Parents may also call the school to enroll by phone, or a representative can be sent to a student’s house to describe the benefits of enrolling.  Birth certificates are required to be presented to the school upon enrollment.

Our admission policy is governed by federal and state laws. Under MN statutes, if the number of applications exceeds the capacity of the grade level students must be accepted by lottery.  Applicants who do not receive classroom placements in the lottery will be put on a waiting list in the order they were selected.  They will be notified promptly if a space becomes available.  Each school year is a separate enrollment period.  Those students on a waiting list for one school year will have to submit a new application the following year.

An enrollment preference will be given to a sibling of an enrolled CPE student.  We define siblings as children that share a parent, guardian, and/or caregiver.  Children of employees are given preference in this same manner. Students currently enrolled in the school are automatically enrolled for the following school year.

Kindergarten Admission Policy

It is Minnesota Law  that children applying to Kindergarten must turn 5 years of age on or before September 1 of the year they will be starting school.

Screen Use Legislation: Effective July 1, 2022

During the 2021 Legislative Session, legislation was passed on the use of individual-use screens in public prekindergarten and kindergarten classrooms.

The legislation went into effect on July 1, 2022. The Division of Early Learning Services has created a document that provides guidance on applying the legislation to classrooms and instruction.

You can find it on the High-Quality Early Learning webpage or access it using this link: Guidance: Screen Use Limits for Children in Publicly Funded Prekindergarten and Kindergarten Programs.
